Time Marches On

I was reading my E-mails this morning, which I am reasonably proud of since I have not been consistent much since my surgery - when I heard Kadee cry out and then her feet running right in to the room I was in while a steady litany of, "Ow, Ow, Ow (sob, gasp!) Ow!" increased in both intensity and volume. All mothers (and fathers for that matter) recognize when the cry means that the child is possibly really hurt and this cry rang that bell. Kadee had apparently been trying to cut something off of a tiara - while not looking at the scissors - and instead cut her index finger. I'm not an EMT so a "gash" about 1/4 inch long that immediately drips four large drops of blood into the sink made me a little ill. Kadee had to hold direct pressure to slow the flow. She was a real trooper. I fell back on the time tested method of comfort to an injured child and pulled her into my lap once the bandage was secure. Now I'm disgruntled because my baby, when sitting on my lap, has to look down into my face. Just then Kerry stopped in and I almost had to have him comfort me. Time marches on and all baby's grow up. Kadee is only in the 3rd grade but her head is up to my shoulder! Next thing you know, she'll be taller than me. I hope she ends up statuesque like Jammie. I'm glad Kerry passes on good genes.
